New Proposal to give more power to Ethereum Validators
Mikhail Kalinin recently proposed an amendment to the Engine API as part of the Deneb upgrade in the Ethereum blockchain.

Holesky Testnet with 1.7M validators will be Genesis ready by end of July
The Ethereum client teams have exceeded their initial goal of attracting 1.5 million validators, securing commitments for a total of 1.7 million validators.

Devnet 8 will be Dencun feature complete
Devnet 8 is expected to include an update to the precompile address, which was initially planned for Devnet 7.

Highlights of Ethereum Devs Call

  • An impact analysis on EIP 6466 and 6406 was done, aiming to determine the impact of these code changes on existing smart contracts.
  • The analysis revealed that LayerZero, zkBridge, and Telepathy could be impacted by the SSZ update, but upgradeability was possible in all cases.
  • Successful launch of Devnet #7 for the Cancun/Deneb upgrade was reported, identifying issues in client implementations which are being patched.
  • Developers discussed the necessity of including all Cancun/Deneb EIPs in their releases and passing necessary Hive tests in preparation for Devnet #8.
  • EIP 4788 is under modification to prevent excessive use of storage space, proposing the use of two ring buffers to bound the storage growth of the precompile.
